Introduction:
I
am pleased to welcome you to the Knowsley Excellence in Cities
website and hope that the contents of these pages reflect
the many achievements which we are so justly proud of. Ours was one
of the first E.I.C.Partnerships to be established and this has been
a key programme in not only raising standards in terms of both achievement
and attendance but also promoting inclusion by allowing students
to overcome often quite substantial barriers to their learning.
Partnership working
is a strong feature within the Knowsley context and this is increasingly
being recognised nationally. There are now
three very well established Primary Collaboratives with Lead Development
Headteachers attached to them and working in real partnership with
Senior Officers of the Local Education Authority. In the Secondary
sector the Leadership Incentive Grant has allowed all of our eleven
schools to create an Innovation and Collaboration Partnership which
is featured as a successful case study on the national Excellence
in Cities Innovation Unit Website .Two local and very experienced
Headteachers serve in the roles of both the L.I.G.Consultant and
also as the Lead Development Head .
Hopefully this website will give you an opportunity to find out
a little bit more about how and what we do in Knowsley.
The Excellence
in Cities initiative has had a major impact in our borough and
is has made an important difference for our students, parents,
schools and communities.
