REAL NAME: ASHLEY DAVIES
Amy could do better, she's a loose cannon, a flawed genius. When Amy puts her mind to something she excels in it, but she generally underachieves. Amy's reluctance to work hard academically has nothing to do with laziness she just doesn't see how she'll benefit from schooling.
Mrs Barnes is the root of Amy's angst she bears a grudge against her mum for putting unnecessary pressure on the family. Amy resents the coach/athlete relationship her mum has with sister, Sarah. In Amy's eyes, it's shallow, but she's envious of Sarah despite her conformity.
Amy knows she has talent, but she's very selective about where and when to turn it on. Where others do things conventionally, Amy cuts corners. She isn't easily led she's strong willed, resilient and steadfast in her opinions.
Amy gets on well with her dad as she respects his laid back disposition. However, their relationship has just been put to the test. Amy gave birth in the family home in front of her panic stricken dad, claiming she'd concealed the pregnancy.
Her mum, Kathy, is happy to pass the baby off as her own, rather than bring shame on the family. However, viewers have recently seen Amy's motherly instincts kick in.
Although Hollyoaks is Ashley's first television role, she's previously been involved in theatre productions. She regularly participated in a local Saturday club called Will Power.
Ashley was ecstatic when she won the role of Amy in Hollyoaks. “I used to watch Hollyoaks when I was younger – our babysitter was obsessed with soaps, so we all used to watch the show together. However, it only really sunk in that I was part of the cast when I came to the green room. I was sat with Max, OB and Tony and was totally star struck!”
